Memory Lane: Sony Clie NZ90

The large and in charge Sony Clie NZ90 was a businessman’s Swiss Army Knife, in every sense.  If the UX50 we previously covered was the ultimate Palm OS PDA, then this was the device that usurped it and took over as supreme PDA.  The NZ90 was the culminating point for not only Sony’s lineup of N-series portrait tablet Clies, but also for Palm OS devices in general and PDA’s at large.

Blast from the Past: Sony Vaio P for PictureBook

The Sony Vaio P was one of the big stories of CES 2009.  It features a form factor that is unique among notebooks, being particularly long and narrow.  The Vaio P, however, is physically very similar to a subnotebook from the early days of Sony laptops, the PictureBook.

Memory Lane: Sony Clie UX50

Here is a device I wish some company would try to recreate.  In many ways, this device was the zenith for Sony Clie’s and even for Palm devices in general.  As you can tell from the picture, the device was shaped like a miniature tablet PC, with a relatively spacious thumb keyboard and a 3.25″ screen that could flip and fold over it.  Therefore, it could be used in both tablet mode and mini-laptop mode.  The UX50 had both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.  The Wi-Fi alone makes it useful, even today, …
