Mac OS X comes with a ton of localization files built-in that, quite honestly, will be useful to less than 1% of the world. OS X has language resource files for Esperanto and Klingon. They are not even real languages, although I guess there might be a large number of Star Trek fans who want their computers to understand Klingon. For the security conscious TrueCrypt is a must. It has several different encryption options, I’m not going to pretend to understand the difference between them but from what I understand they are all pretty ridiculous. Better yet it allows you to use multiple encryption layers at once, making your files super-secure. Best of all it works with Windows, Mac, and Linux, so if you have things on your computer you want to keep ridiculously private, TrueCrypt is the way to go.
P.S. TrueCrypt is also a good way to hide pornography …

I like Google, along with most of the software it has rolled out over the years. One of the gems Google has released is Picasa2, a free fully featured photo organizer. Its the best photo organizer I’ve used on Windows, that’s why it’s the first program to receive our brand new seal of approval, this does not mean previously reviewed programs are not as good, but we just came up with the seal. Over the years Adobe Reader has tacked on a lot of unnecessary software, today Adobe Reader 9 is 33.5MB. Foxit Reader is a great free alternative, weighing in at a mere 2.6MB. It’s no frills, but really what do you need out of a PDF reader besides reading PDF’s? Foxit is also a lot faster than Adobe Reader, read on after the break to find out more.
