Google. Amazon. Dell. Sidekick. Helio?  Let’s recap all the rumors that floated through the tech-o-sphere this week.

Ever since Google first came out with Gears a couple years ago, we knew this day would come.  Now you can access your Gmail even when you’re not connected to the internet.

Despite the praise I had previously bestowed upon Google Notebook, Google has decided to stop development on this unappreciated service.  With Notebook on death row, where do we go now?

Yesterday, T-mobile announced their new G1 smartphone. This is the first smartphone based on Google’s Android mobile platform. The G1 is thicker than the iPhone 3G but has a smaller footprint. It has a touchscreen like the iPhone, but also has a slide-out keyboard.

Google Chrome is now available to download.  It is currently Windows only, but Mac and Linux versions are expected in the future.  Full Impressions review to come.

One of Google’s lesser known tools, I have found Google Notebook to be very helpful to me in school.  It installs as an extension on Firefox for Windows, Mac, and Linux.  Additionally, it is available as a plugin for Internet Explorer 6.  Unofortunately, there is no support for Internet Explorer 7, Safari, or other browsers.  The point of Google Notebook is that you can save websites, or highlight selections of text, or select an image to save to a central Google server.  There you can organize your web clipping into …
