UberTwitter now the number one BlackBerry Twitter app

ubertwitter We previously covered Twitterberry, at the time the de facto Twitter app for BlackBerry users.  A lot has changed since then.  Since TweetGenius is currently back in closed beta, that means that newcomer UberTwitter is now our favorite way to tweet on a BlackBerry.

What I like about UberTwitter over Twitterberry is that it has a better UI for viewing your timelines.  It is just easier to see all your friends’ tweets and the look is more organized.  In addition, UberTwitter does a better job of including profile information about each person on Twitter.

Overall, UberTwitter does a very good job replicating all the features of the Twitter website on a BlackBerry app.  It even includes the ability to tag your tweets with your location info.  That feature is not very important to be, but it is notable.  UberTwitter’s killer feature for me is the ability to handle multiple accounts, something Twitterberry cannot do.

UberTwitter is not without its faults though.  While UberTwitter can upload your pics as part of your tweets, it does not support any of the popular websites, such as TwitPic or yfrog.  Instead it uses its own in house solution, which is not as elegant.  The biggest knock against UberTwitter is that while it is free for now, it might not be that way in the future.  The developers have stated that once UberTwitter exits beta, the free version will be ad-supported and an ad-free version will cost $4.99.  While that price is understandable, we would certainly be much happier with free.

seal In the mean time, go ahead and download UberTwitter and enjoy.
