Tiny ResMeter: Low on resources, high on information

Windows Only: For a long time I’ve been looking for a program that doesn’t use too many system resources but tells me everything I want to know about the status of my system. I’ve tried RainMeter, but it would randomly cause system usage spikes that would render my computer too slow to use. I’ve tried Samurize but as anyone who has used it might know, it’s not very user friendly but it is highly customizable. As you can see on the left, Tiny ResMeter is not the most beautiful looking program, but it’s memory footprint is under 2MB and it doesn’t even require any installation, just download and run it.

ScreenShot003If you want the more feature rich version of Tiny ResMeter you have to register for the mailing list on the program’s website, but it’s free and I’ve only received one confirmation email since. The settings (seen right) are easy to use, but remember that there are not that many of them. Really all you can do is choose what to show, what not to show, and what color to show it in. It says it has some transparency options but they don’t seem to work in Vista.

So if you’re looking for something simple, just to show RAM and CPU usage and maybe some hard drive and battery statistics then you should consider Tiny ResMeter because it seems to work pretty well for me.
