Educate Blog So Luofei and I used to think that starting ourĀ  own blog would be difficult and expensive, which is why it took us so long to actually start. Once we figured this whole “blog” thing out we realized we couldn’t have been farther from the truth. In this article I’m going to run you through the basics of starting your own blog/website, if that doesn’t interest you then don’t bother reading on.

The first choice you’re going to have to make is whether or not you want to actually pump some money into your blog, which at this point is just an idea. If you want to go the free route there are obviously going to be some drawbacks. Luofei and I started a free blog before we became JustPlainTech.com, it was located on WordPress.com. There are some huge differences between having a blog on WordPress.com and having a blog hosted elsewhere that uses the WordPress publishing system. One problem that we had with WordPress.com was that they would not let us place advertisements on the site. All in all, WordPress.com is a fine place to start a blog, another free option is blogger.com.

Tune in tomorrow for part 2 of this how-to where we’ll delve into options for those willing to pay for their blog.
