Impressions: Adobe Buzzword Beta

Adobe Buzzword is pretty awesome. If you haven’t heard of it it’s Adobe’s new online word processor. The genius of buzzword is in the simplicity of its interface. Read on to find out more.
At first I was a little thrown off by the bar at the top of theĀ window, it didn’t seem to have nearly enough buttons to be a full word processor. It turns out that Adobe took the same keys as Microsoft did with Office 2007, Microsoft used the Ribbon to hide unnecessary buttons, Adobe does something similar.
To the right I’ve included a screen of what happens in Buzzword when you create a new document. It’s a very nice looking editor. As you can see the font bar is visible right now, to the right of the font bar are the buttons that open all the other toolbars.
Buzzword also has a lot of collaborative features, allowing you to work on documents with other people over the Internet. It also has some great spell-check features.
Below is an image of the various toolbars in Buzzword. As you can see they are all beautifully illustrated. ![]()
Another cool feature of buzzword is the color palate. This palate divides the colors into groups, its fairly useful but really just looks nice.
I think that Adobe Buzzword has a lot of potential and might be able to overtake Google Docs and Zoho, two of the more popular online document editors.
