I make it no secret that I love Ubuntu, and usually love any offshoot of the project.  Linux Mint is supposed to be a more user friendly variation of Ubuntu.  I gave Revision 1 of  Linux Mint 5 Elyssa Main Edition a test run and it was less stable than I anticipated for a revision of a release edition, but it does show promise.  Read on to find out more.

Recently, I blogged about Adium, which I believe is the best IM client for Macs.  However, there are still times when I have to use iChat, mostly for videochatting.  During these times, I am glad I have Chax.  Chax is a plugin for iChat that adds many small, but useful features.  Some niceties include Growl notifications, active Dock icon, log viewer, and the option to unify all contacts from different accounts into one contact list.  Basically, Chax makes iChat more like Adium, which is definitely a good thing.
