The Eee PC blog is reporting that Dell will be launching its Inspiron Mini Netbook on August 12th. The expected price of these 8.9 in LCD laptops is starting at $299, which would be awesome making these a nice little netbook to have. These will have a 4GB SSD and 512MB of RAM, using the 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU. They will weigh in around 2.2 lb so get psyched…maybe, this is still just a rumor.

In one word, Linux is awesome. Most of you out there are probably Windows, or recently converted Mac users. I’m sure if you’ve never used Linux you think its only for the Tech elite but in the past couple years Linux has made huge strides and become much more user friendly. A while back, I spent a long time looking for a good program to mount .iso files. Finding a good one for free that doesn’t mess up my Vista installation (had some problems with Daemon Tools in the past) was difficult, but then I came across Virtual CloneDrive by SlySoft which has no fancy features and does only what it promises to do, without error. Not so much tech news as it is just plain awesome. The Google Olympic Games Site integrates Google Maps with a few new Olympic-related features. You can see a map that shows medal counts over countries, or another map that shows all the Olympic stadiums. The last map is labeled “events” and doesn’t show anything yet but I’m sure we can expect it to be awesome. There’s also a gadget that you can add to your Google homepage that displays similar information, I know I’ll be watching it cheering …
